Pottery at the Beach: Sculpting Turtles! (THURSDAY, 6/9)
PLEASE READ ME! <3
Come enjoy a class of mindful creation on the beach!
Enjoy a relaxing, creative session where you'll learn how to sculpt turtle dishes from a ball of stoneware clay while listening to the calming sounds of the ocean. We'll search for shells together to create texture, incorporate saltwater into the clay, and make some new friends under the sun.
Led by staff member Gabby from The Cozy Bookwyrm, you'll receive patient, step-by-step instructions on how to make your own little aquatic buddy using various hand-building techniques. No clay experience necessary! (And if you wish to sculpt something different than the theme, you are welcome to! The turtles will be about hand-sized.)

More Important Information:
- CLASS TYPE: This is a sculpting class, NOT a wheel class. You will be working by hand, not on the pottery wheel.
- GLAZING: Your practice piece(s) will be glazed with ONE glaze that is intuitively selected by the staff of the studio. It’ll be a fun surprise! If you would like to paint your own, please email us at thecozybookwyrm@gmail.com with a picture of your shark to arrange a separate painting session at Cozy. An additional painting session is $20.
- CARE: Ceramics should not be exposed to extreme temperature changes. Hand-wash or allow to cool to room temperature from the top rack of your dishwasher help prevent shattering. Avoid using boiling water. With care, your future little pots can bring you joy for a long while.
- TURNAROUND TIME: Pottery is a process and takes time to fire and make it through our process. Your creations will be ready for pickup from the Cargo District studio approximately 4-6 weeks from the workshop date. You should receive a pickup email when they're finished, but if it is eaten by filters, please come by the studio after 4 weeks to check on your pots or send us an email. Any pottery left at the studio 3 months after the workshop date will be donated, so please pick up your work in time!
- YOU MUST SIGN YOUR POTTERY. Bookworm Pottery & Co. is not liable for lost pieces that are unsigned and mistakenly claimed by another student.
- DISCLAIMER: Not all practice pieces are guaranteed to make it out of the kiln if instructions are not followed. Inconsistencies in thickness can cause cracks or even shattering in the firing process. However, the goal of this workshop is to learn and have fun, not the finished practice piece, so don’t stress about it! Additionally, the "inspo" photos on this listing are of creation examples for educational purposes only--they are not always pieces made by our studio, and we claim no rights to these photos unless they are ours.
- REFUND POLICY: All sales are final. Tickets cannot be refunded, prorated or exchanged for another workshop due to the special nature of our offerings and very limited enrollment. If something comes up that impacts your attendance, you are welcome to resell or gift your tickets. In the event of an extreme emergency, such as the death of a close family member, please email us at bookwormpotteryco@gmail.com to discuss options.
- LIABILITY INFORMATION: By participating in pottery classes with Bookworm Pottery & Co. or The Cozy Bookwyrm, I understand and accept that not all pots are guaranteed to make it out of the kiln if instructions are not followed. Improper use of ceramics can lead to damage, or in extreme cases, injury. I release Bookworm Pottery & Co. and The Cozy Bookwyrm from any liability related to pottery painted during class. I also acknowledge that Bookworm Pottery & Co. and The Cozy Bookwyrm are not liable for lost pieces that are unsigned and mistakenly claimed by another student. All sales are final.
